This Privacy Policy explains how MTGSnap - Magic Card Scanner ("MTGSnap", "the app", "we", "us"), operated by Megamobi Technology, handles information when you use the app. We built MTGSnap to work offline-first: card recognition runs entirely on your device, and we keep the data we collect to a minimum. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
MTGSnap uses your camera to recognize cards in real time. The camera frames and any photos are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded to us or anyone else. We do not retain these images.
Cards you scan, the collections you create, quantities, prices, and foil/finish choices are stored locally on your device. This data is not sent to our servers.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This includes anonymous, app-level information such as app interactions (screen views, feature usage, paywall and purchase events), device model, operating system, app version, language, and an approximate location (city/region level) derived from your IP address. This data is tied to a randomly generated app-instance identifier, not to your real identity.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes. When the app crashes, technical information (stack traces, device state, OS version, available memory) is collected to help us diagnose the problem.
To enable analytics, push notifications, and advertising attribution, the app may process device/installation identifiers such as the Firebase app-instance ID, a push notification token, and the device advertising ID.
If you buy a Premium upgrade, your payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never receive or store your credit card or payment account details. We do log non-sensitive purchase events (for example, "purchase started", "purchase succeeded") to analytics so we can measure and improve the purchase experience.
We may measure which marketing campaign led to an app install so we can run and optimize our own user-acquisition advertising. On iOS this uses Apple's Search Ads attribution; we may also link Firebase to Google Ads to measure installs and conversions for campaigns that promote MTGSnap. This is used only to advertise our own app — MTGSnap does not display ads inside the app.
The bundled card database ships with the app and works offline. When you tap to update prices or view higher-resolution card images, the app requests that content over the internet from Scryfall and our content delivery network. These requests send only non-personal data (such as a card identifier) and do not include any personal information about you.
The app relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

We do not sell your personal data. Data is processed by the service providers listed above on our behalf. Where we link analytics to Google Ads for the sole purpose of measuring and optimizing campaigns that promote MTGSnap, certain identifiers and conversion events may be shared with Google for advertising and measurement. We may also disclose information if required by law.
MTGSnap offers an optional Premium upgrade (for example, unlocking price details and removing the daily scan limit) through Google Play's billing system. All payments are processed by Google Play; we do not collect or store your payment details. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in Google Play › Subscriptions.
All data transmitted off your device (analytics, crash reports, price/image requests) is sent over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. Your card photos are never transmitted, and your collections remain on your device.
Analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase for the periods set in our Firebase configuration and Google's policies. Locally stored data (your collections) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
MTGSnap is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
The services we use may process and store data on servers located outside your country. By using the app, you consent to such processing in accordance with this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes may be announced in the app or on our website. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
